Granite Retaining Wall Taking Shape in Deer Park

Sloped lots are tricky. Without the right structure holding things in place, you end up with erosion, unstable ground, and a yard that never really gets usable. That's exactly the kind of problem a well-built retaining wall solves - and it's what we're working through on this Deer Park property right now.

We're mid-build on a granite boulder wall that runs along the base of a graded slope. The granite we're using isn't just there to look good - it's dense, heavy, and weathers incredibly well in the Pacific Northwest climate. Each stone gets set with intention. The way the pieces fit together determines how the wall performs over time, especially once the ground behind it starts dealing with water movement and freeze-thaw cycles.

The grading work behind the wall is just as important as the wall itself. We cleared and shaped the slope so it drains properly and gives the landscaping a clean, level canvas to work with. That coordination between the rock wall and the grading is what makes the finished product hold up long-term - not just look good on day one.

Once the landscaping goes in, this whole area is going to feel completely different. Right now you're seeing raw dirt and stone, but that's the foundation everything else gets built on. Getting this part right is what makes the rest of the project possible.

If you've got a hillside, a sloped lot, or erosion issues on your property in the Deer Park, Post Falls, Spokane, or Coeur d'Alene area - this is the kind of work we do. Solid structure first, everything else follows.
