Off-grid builds are a whole different animal. No city hookups. No municipal water or sewer. Everything the cabin needs has to come from the ground up - literally. That's exactly what we were dealing with here on this hilltop property in North Idaho.
We handled the full underground utility package - propane tank buried, cistern buried, and septic tank installed and buried. Three major systems, all handled in one scope of work. Getting all of that coordinated and done right on a sloped mountain site takes real planning. The rocky terrain doesn't make any of it easier, but that's just part of working in this part of Idaho.
What you're looking at before backfill is that large red propane tank sitting in its trench, ready to go under. The septic access riser is visible at grade in the finished shot - that's how you know everything is set at the right depth and accessible for future maintenance. The gravel pad across the front of the site ties it all together and gives the owner a clean, functional outdoor area to work with.
Off-grid septic installation on terrain like this isn't a job for someone without experience in site grading and utility work. The slope, the rock, the access - it all has to be thought through before the first bucket of dirt moves. We do this kind of work regularly across North Idaho, and it's some of our favorite stuff.
The before-and-after here is pretty satisfying. Raw excavation with trenches and piles of dirt on one end, and a clean gravel pad with a mountain view on the other. That cabin went from a construction site to something that actually looks like a place you'd want to spend time.
