We excavate a base and set the first course of large boulders deep enough to anchor the wall. Each rock is placed so it bears on the rocks below and leans back into the slope. Behind the wall, we place drain rock and fabric so water drains freely instead of pushing the wall out. Our tiltrotator-equipped excavators are the difference here. The tiltrotator lets us rotate and tilt each boulder to find its best face and fit, so the wall is tighter, more stable, and better looking than a wall built with a standard bucket and thumb. Local granite and basalt We source local rock whenever possible. It's typically more affordable, and it matches the stone already on your property and in the surrounding landscape.
